Roundtable on Labour Shortages and Training: Dialogue Around CIRANO’s Labour Market Report

On July 14, 2025, a roundtable was held to further explore the issues of labour shortage and training discussed in CIRANO’s report État du marché du travail au Québec : faits, tendances et pistes d'action.

This event brought together representatives from various government departments and public agencies to discuss these topics with Benoit Dostie (HEC Montréal), Fellow and Lead Researcher of the CIRANO theme Skills for the Future, and Fabian Lange (McGill University), CIRANO Fellow.

Discussions focused in particular on:

  • public policies that could affect labour market participation rates;

  • the challenges of school dropout and vocational training choices;

  • the impacts of technological transformations — especially artificial intelligence — on evolving skill needs.

This roundtable is part of CIRANO’s ongoing commitment to fostering knowledge transfer between research and public decision-making.
