“Trust and Public Health”: Marcel Boyer takes part in a roundtable alongside Esther Duflo

On 8 April, the University of Montreal awarded an honorary doctorate to Esther Duflo, winner of the 2019 Nobel Prize in Economics for her work on poverty alleviation. During the conference “Trust and Public Health”, Marcel Boyer, CIRANO Fellow, took part in a round-table discussion with Esther Duflo and Louise Potvin, Professor of Social and Preventive Medicine at the University of Montreal’s School of Public Health (ESPUM), to discuss the crucial role of trust in the effectiveness of public interventions, particularly in the field of health.

Louise Roy, Chancellor Emeritus of the University of Montreal, CIRANO Honorary Guest Fellow and Chair of the CIRANO Board of Directors from 2012 to 2025, and Carl-Ardy Dubois, Dean of ESPUM and CIRANO Researcher, were on stage alongside the Dean of UdeM for the conferral of the honorary doctorate. Nathalie de Marcellis-Warin, CIRANO CEO, as well as several CIRANO researchers and Fellows, were present at the event.
