Patricia Crifo, CIRANO Associate Researcher and Fellow since 2010, has been appointed as Senior Councillor at the Cour des comptes by decree dated July 16, 2025. A professor at École Polytechnique, she is widely recognized for her work on sustainable development, responsible investment and business practices, green growth, and biased technological change.
She holds a PhD from the University of Lyon and is a graduate of the École normale supérieure Paris-Saclay. Throughout her academic career, she has held positions at CNRS and several higher education institutions, including ENS Lyon, the University of Paris Nanterre, and UHA. Since 2019, she has directed the Master's program “Economics for Smart Cities & Climate Policy” and has played a key role in the interdisciplinary Energy4Climate (E4C) initiative.
The Cour des comptes is France’s supreme audit institution. It operates as an independent body tasked with auditing the proper and efficient use of public funds, evaluating public policies, and informing both Parliament and the Government. In her new role, Patricia Crifo will contribute to public reports, analyze the financial management of the state and local authorities, and follow up on recommendations aimed at improving public administration.
She is also a researcher at the CREST – Centre for Research in Economics and Statistics – a leading interdisciplinary research center that brings together economists, statisticians, and sociologists affiliated with École Polytechnique, ENSAE, and CNRS.
