La santé en avant tout ? Perceptions de la population québécoise quant à l’engagement de l’État envers la santé
The combined effect of rising healthcare costs and severe budget constraints limits the resources that can be allocated to the healthcare system. Governments are therefore faced with difficult trade-offs when it comes to allocating public funds both within the healthcare system and between different government functions such as education, pensions or income support. In a CIRANO study (Jacques and Chassé, 2025), the authors show that Quebecers are generally very unsatisfied with the healthcare system, and that there is a strong consensus in public opinion in favour of more spending on healthcare. However, this desire doesn't necessarily translate into a willingness to pay higher taxes to support new spending.
