External activity - Public health responses to emergencies: challenges and solutions

Agora - École de santé publique de l’Université de Montréal

Wednesday 27 Nov 2024
From 9AM To 12PM

  • The ice storm of April 2023 caused major power outages across the region. With nearly 500,000 customers without power, the Direction régionale de santé publique (DRSP) received reports of carbon monoxide exposure from its partners.

  • In February, March, and April 2024, there were 23 confirmed cases of measles in Montreal.

How could we adapt and react to these emergency situations, and address some of the key roles in public health?

On November 27, in the Agora of the Université de Montréal School of Public Health, two panels discussed these emergency mobilizations, the determining roles of public health, the challenges encountered, the solutions implemented to overcome them, and key lessons learned.

Each public health emergency was discussed jointly by representatives of the Direction régionale de santé publique (DRSP) and representatives of CReSP partner groups.

This event was organized and moderated by François Castonguay (ESPUM, CReSP, CIRANO).
